If you’re wondering how easy or difficult it is to build your own shed, the fact is it’s as easy or difficult as you choose to make it.

With wood shed kits and most other shed kits, you build your own shed, but don’t have to worry about the design aspect of the project.

Your first step is to decide if you require a garden shed, a storage shed, or a shed that can be used as a workshop.

The proposed use of the shed dictates the approximate size that you require to best suit your needs.

You would  then plan a suitable site for the shed, taking into account its proposed use. For instance if you require a simple storage shed you probably don’t need to worry about getting the maximum amount of available light. Whereas if you plan to create a workshop, you’ll need to consider things such as  natural light and power sources etc.

Then you simply choose the appropriate shed from a range of wood shed kits and other storage shed kits.

You now have the opportunity to build your own shed using the instructions that will be provided with the product.

If you are up for a bit more of a challenge then another option is to use shed building plans.

With shed building plans you take on the whole project from scratch, choosing the design, buying the materials, and eventually erecting the shed yourself.

If you decide to go for using garden shed plans, then you still need to follow the basic steps as you would if you were going to use one of the wood shed kits. That is, you still need to decide on the purpose, the site, and the size required.

Once you’ve determined those things you simply choose the plans that suit your needs best. You may want large door openings and plenty of windows, or if you’re after a simple storage shed then security features may be your primary concern.

Whatever you want, there are a wide range of garden shed plans and other shed building plans available on the market, and you have the added bonus of being able to adapt the plans to suit your personal requirements.
