Wooden Garden Sheds

As far as I am concerned, traditional wooden garden sheds are the best choice for most people, as they tend to blend naturally into the majority of home/garden settings.

On top of that, you get far more choice of sizes and designs with wooden garden sheds, than you do with sheds constructed from plastic, metal, or vinyl materials.

There is a wooden garden shed to suit all budgets, as they come in just about every size imaginable. Other factors that affect price are whether the shed is made from hard wood or softwood, and how the shed is constructed (i.e. tongue and groove, shiplap planks, or chipboard). You can also sometimes add extra doors and windows to your shed, and whilst this adds significantly to the price, your shed can be tailored more to suit your individual needs.

These days, many wooden garden sheds are environmentally friendly, as they are manufactured from FSC controlled timber from sustainable forestry resources.

Some gardeners can be put off a wooden shed because they think that these type of sheds take too much looking after. That is incorrect. Wooden sheds are versatile and very durable, and they will last for years with just a little maintenance. A periodic inspection, and an application of a coat of paint or stain each year, will more than protect your investment for many years to come.

Alternatively, if you wish to conceal your wooden garden shed, it can be very easily covered with fast-growing climbing plants and this will also help to protect it from the elements.

A wooden garden shed can be turned into almost anything – a storage shed, a hideaway den/retreat, a playroom for the kids, temporary sleeping accommodation for visitors, an office, a workshop, a garage, a summer house, etc. The list is endless really.

I hope this has helped you to see the benefits of owning a wooden garden shed.
